Ditsch

In 1919, master baker Wilhelm Ditsch founded a bakery shop in the Romantic old town of Mainz. This master baker baked the best pretzels in the whole city of Mainz. The founder’s son, Heinz Ditsch, also a master baker, took the bakery into its second generation and further perfected his father’s recipe, and soon Ditsch pretzels were famous beyond the borders of Mainz.

That was the beginning of a remarkable success story. Third generation, Peter Ditsch took over the company from his parents in 1978, with five staff and annual sales of 300,000 Deutsch- marks.

When he sold it to the Valora Group in 2012, the firm had more than 450 employees, 230 franchise outlets and annual sales of some 150 million euros. Today, the Ditsch franchise is being rolled out in the UK to 18 stores, all of which will be powered by EasiPos. Currently, Valora has more than 3000 retail outlets across Europe.
